Threads Through Time - The Evolution of Da Vinci California Designs

From block panels to embroidered art, Da Vinci’s design legacy spans decades.

Over the decades, Da Vinci California has never stood still. What started as bold color-blocked shirts in the 1950s soon evolved to include embroidery, custom motifs, and even artistic homages to Southern California itself.

Da Vinci California shirts became known for their Shirley fabric—a silky-feel polyester-rayon blend that offered both comfort and sheen. In the 60s and 70s, new design experiments included floral embroidery, geometric patterns, and seasonal colorways. Yet, no matter how the styles shifted, Da Vinci’s commitment to quality remained constant.

Today, the brand continues to evolve with limited-edition drops and artist collaborations that pay homage to its vintage roots while staying fresh and relevant.
